Upanayanam

Upanayanam, also known as the sacred thread ceremony, is a Hindu ritual performed for young boys typically aged between 8 and 12 years old. The ceremony marks the boy’s entry into the world of formal education, and it signifies the start of his journey to becoming a responsible member of society. During the ceremony, the boy is given a sacred thread, called a “Janeu,” which he wears across his chest as a symbol of his spiritual progress. The Upanayanam Pooja typically involves rituals such as the recitation of mantras and the offering of prayers to various deities. The ceremony is usually performed by a Hindu priest and is attended by the boy’s family and friends.
