Seemantham

Seemantham is a Hindu ritual that is performed for pregnant women in India, typically during the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy. The ritual is usually performed by the woman’s mother-in-law and is intended to bless the pregnant woman and her unborn child. During the ritual, the pregnant woman is bathed with turmeric and sandalwood paste, and her feet are adorned with henna designs. She is then adorned with new clothes and jewelry. A pooja or a prayer ceremony is performed, during which various offerings are made to the gods, such as coconuts, fruits, and sweets. The mother-in-law and other relatives also bless the woman and the unborn child. The Seemantham ceremony is considered an important ritual in Hindu culture, as it is believed to bring good luck and prosperity to the mother and child and to ensure a safe delivery and healthy child.
