Namaaranam

Naamakaranam

Naamakaranam is a Hindu ritual that is performed to name a newborn baby. It is considered to be one of the most important rituals in the life of a Hindu child, as it marks the child’s official entry into the world and the beginning of their spiritual journey. During the Naamakaranam ceremony, the baby is bathed and dressed in new clothes, and a pooja or prayer ceremony is performed in their honor. A Hindu priest is usually present to perform the ritual and to select an auspicious name for the baby based on the child’s birth chart and the parents’ preference. The baby’s name is then announced to the family and friends, and the child is given blessings by everyone present. The Naamakaranam ceremony is considered an important ritual in Hindu culture, as it marks the beginning of the child’s spiritual journey and is believed to bring good luck and blessings for the child’s future. The name given to the baby is considered as a sacred and is considered to have a significant impact on the child’s life.
