Online Avani Avittam-Upakarma

Avani Avittam, also known as Upakarma, is a Hindu ritual that is performed annually by Brahmins, primarily those who follow the Vaidika tradition, to change their sacred thread (Yajnopavitam or Janeu) worn by them. This ritual is performed on the day of the full moon in the Hindu month of Sravana (August-September) and it is considered to be one of the most important rituals for Brahmins.

Traditionally, Avani Avittam is performed in person, with the help of a Hindu priest. However, due to the pandemic, many people have started performing the ritual online.

Online Avani Avittam usually involves live streaming of the ritual, where a Hindu priest performs the ceremony and explains the significance of each step. Participants can join the live streaming and perform the ritual along with the priest, following the instructions given.

Online Avani Avittam is a convenient way for many people to perform the ritual, especially those who live far away from their families or priests. It allows them to participate in the ritual and receive blessings, even if they cannot be physically present.
