Sankatahara Chaturthi Pooja

26 May

Sankatahara Chaturthi, also known as Sankashti Chaturthi, is a Hindu festival that is observed every month on the fourth day after the full moon or new moon day. The word “Sankatahara” means “removal of obstacles”, and the festival is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, who is revered as the remover of obstacles and the god of new beginnings.

On Sankatahara Chaturthi, devotees observe a fast and perform special pujas and rituals in honor of Lord Ganesha, seeking his blessings for the removal of obstacles, success, and prosperity. The day is believed to be particularly auspicious for spiritual practices, and devotees believe that observing the fast and performing the rituals with devotion can bring blessings and benefits in all aspects of life.

During the puja, devotees offer special food offerings and perform various rituals, including the recitation of the Ganesha Atharvashirsha and the Ganapati Stotra. The puja concludes with the breaking of the fast, followed by the distribution of prasad or holy food to devotees.
